*Publix* breaks ground for third *Charlotte* store

Publix Super Markets Inc. held a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of its third supermarket in the Charlotte region, the first in the state for the Florida-based chain. It’s expected to open next year. The company also has plans for an “urban-format” store in the city’s South End neighborhood where it will begin construction later this year.

The grocery chain opened its first two local stores in October, just across the South Carolina border in Tega Cay and Indian Land.
