Atlantic Intermodal Services expanding in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Atlantic Intermodal Services is planning to move into a larger facility in Greensboro by February. The company specializes in transportation services such as import/export cargo shipments.

The company opened in 2012 with one crew member and about 10 drivers. Today, AIS’s Greensboro operation has four crew members and 30 drivers, and has doubled its fleet of trucks from 15 to 30. If it continues current growth, the company expects to soon have 50 drivers.

AIS has been adding staff and drivers due to an increased demand for freight related to an uptick in import/export cargo shipments for goods coming through the Norfolk, Virginia, port via Greensboro rail.

According to its website, Atlantic Intermodal Services has provided superior one-way and standard drayage for clients in key markets across the southeast for nearly 25 years. It prides itself on being the premier intermodal transportation resource in the region. AIS operates seven facilities.
