United Furniture Industries opens Lexington distribution center

LEXINGTON, N.C. — United Furniture Industries has expanded with a 100,000-square-foot distribution plant in Lexington. The furniture manufacturer, based in Mississippi, is expected to increase the initial 10-person staff to 50 in 2016.

UFI opened a facility in Winston-Salem last year and operates plants in Randolph and Lexington. The company employs about 1,200 people in the Triad. The new distribution facility opened in October.

According to its website, UFI it has an exclusive licensing agreement as the U. S. manufacturer of Simmons Upholstery, a leading resource for microfiber and bonded leather upholstery fabric models. UFI employs thousands across millions of square feet of production space. Its focus is meeting the needs of retailers and consumers through style and value with an affordable, extensive line of trendsetting furniture.
