Triangle eateries land on list of N.C.’s ‘tiny restaurants … that are actually amazing’

RALEIGH-DURHAM, N.C. — Three Triangle restaurants are highlighted in travel blog Only in North Carolina’s feature, “10 Extremely Tiny Restaurants In North Carolina That Are Actually Amazing.”

Among the hole-in-the-wall venues on the short list are Dame’s Chicken and Waffles in Durham, Mecca Restaurant in downtown Raleigh and Johnson’s Drive-In in Siler City.

“The interior of Dame’s is simple and to the point, with a small window in the back that gives you a nice view of the kitchen. … No need for fanciness when the food is this amazing,” writes the blog.

And of the historic Mecca: “This dive restaurant is a must-experience, with down-home [S]outhern comfort food served in a cozy, no-frills environment.”
