Topgolf teeing up fun and 480 jobs in Charlotte
CHARLOTTE — Charlotte Stories reports the Charlotte City Council approved Topgolf International Inc. proposal for a massive new regional facility in Southwest Charlotte at Whitehall Corporate Center. It will be the company’s first full-size complex in the area.
Topgolf Charlotte will be a futuristic “golf entertainment complex” offering targeted games where players hit ‘microchipped’ balls as close to various targets and special zones as possible. The balls individually record their location before and after they are hit, and give individual scores for each player. They will also feature a full food and drink menu – catering to golfers and non-golfers of all skill levels.
The new complex will bring 480 new jobs and a $30 million in taxes Mecklenburg County over 20 years.
“We needed a super-regional facility and by that I mean something with highway access and large trip counts,” development manager Ted Heilbron said.
